A bull represents 50% of your calf crop and a very significant investment. We have done a breeding soundness examination both from a semen quality and a physiological standpoint. The bulls will perform as satisfactory potential breeders.

Excessive use of young bulls can deplete    semen reserves. Use yearlings at a
          1:15 to 1:20 ratio.
Limit breeding season of young bulls to
             60-70 days.

Feed young bulls a quality ration during the fall and winter to continue their development and assure longevity.

Ultrasound information for bulls selling is
included in the catalog. All the bulls have been together since weaning.

I will have carcass EPD’s available sale day
on the bulls with them. One should pay closer attention to EPD’s for desired traits rather than an individuals own numbers. They have proven to be 9 times more accurate in predicting progeny differences in all categories.

Cattlemen:

It’s bull sale season again as all of you are aware. My associates, Terrill and Sarah Strnad along with Russ and Darla Lewis hope you will consider our bulls as you make your 2010 breeding plans. This is the most docile group of bulls ever as well as improved in quality.
Charolais cattle continue to command top prices wherever they are offered. They are identifiable by both color and quality.  Consumers demand tender beef from young animals. They expect it, they demand it, and Charolais crosses can provide it.
This years sale offering represents 54 years breeding cattle for myself, 26 years for Terrill, and 16 for Darla. We are always learning and trying new lines of stock. There are AI calves from some of the top sires in the breed as well as walking bulls produced from proven genetics..
This year has been another learning experience as far as how to prepare bulls under less that favorable weather conditions. You have faced the same challenges so I hope you realize that the lower rates of gain this year are due to environment rather than less emphasis on growth traits.
All the bulls have been fed together this year since weaning. They are eating a grow ration of grass hay, alfalfa hay, dry distillers grain, corn, and liquid protein. They are not over fat--just ready to work.
Yearling weights, ultrasound scans and scrotal measurements were done Feb. 11. Troy Anderson of Guide Rock , NE scanned the bulls. Images are sent to CUP Labs in Iowa who forward data to the Charolais Assn. for interpretation.
Our reputation goes on your truck with the bulls. We expect them to breed cows and to be manageable for a long time.  We guarantee them for the first season of breeding.

HOPE TO SEE YOU AT THE SALE AND THANK YOU FOR CONSIDERING OUR BULLS.
